National Gas Company goes to school with ‘Safety Pays’!
‘Safety Pays!’ is conceptualized and thoughtfully crafted by Oman’s pioneering energy solutions company, National Gas. ‘Safety Pays’ is a focused, friendly and knowledge-based competition, which seeks to bring school students of Muscat on a common platform – to compete, share, witness, participate, debate, encourage and inspire various aspects of safety in our day-to-day chores.
‘Safety Pays!’ is an initiative created to emphasize on safety in everyday living. Safety in all walks of life – safety, the integral ingredient for a better tomorrow. To drive the message home, loud and clear among the young, National Gas will tap school students to deliberate and evolve new concepts on ‘safety’.
The campaign ‘Safety Pays!’ spreads over a 60-75 day period and involves participation by students of 5th Grade to 8th Grade in the age group of 10 to 14 years. Focusing on ‘Safety’ as a theme, the event starts with Drawing and Painting competition, Essay writing competition, exciting Skits/short dramas and ‘Plan your Projects’ to highlight the essence of safety.
In Phase-I, the competitions will be held within the schools and the participating students will compete against each other in their own respective schools. To decide the final winner, the Phase-I winners will then compete in Phase-II at the Inter-school competition. The winners will be adjudged by a panel of eminent Jury members, exclusively selected for the event. ‘Safety Pays’ will feature on Facebook, Youtube and other electronic media that are popular among youngsters. Though ‘Safety Pays’ is an Inter school competition within Muscat participation remains open to all through social media networking.
Goutam Sen, CEO, National Gas Company, says, “The Safety Pays’ campaign is an integral part of National Gas’ CSR (corporate social responsibility) initiative which, will go a long way in inspiring and inculcating safety awareness among children, who will, hopefully carry these practices to become responsible citizens of the future”.
Shagufta Binth Hasham – Directress (Tender Buds Nursery / Little Flowers Nursery), an eminent Jury member of ‘Safety Pays!’ insists, “being associated with Safety Awareness is a privilege and an opportunity to contribute to a most essential and note-worthy cause in our prevalent society. My view is, safety awareness is an ongoing process, which needs to be periodically addressed as lifestyles and attitudes change so do hazards! Therefore, it is essential that safety education becomes an integral part of any educational system in a developing country.”
